Rob Ryan

We have research Rob Ryan because he has influnced us to use the stencil designs to go on our product design. We also decided that for our launched event that we could ask Rob to come along and help out with the event at the yorkshire sculpture park as our local artist.

Banksy Research

Banksy is a graffiti artist. Nearly most of his work was done anonymous. Banksy has done most of his work around London, Bristol and Brighton area and also gone around the world including New York and Los Angeles. His work is street art which is part of his graffiti that is done by stencilling. Banksy's artwork have topics from politics, culture and ethics.

Banksy work attracts the younger age group, as they do vandalism. Despite not calling himself an artist, He has been considered by some as talented in that respect; he uses his original street art form, often in combination with a distinctive stencilling technique, to promote alternative aspects of politics from those promoted by the mainstream media.

Banksy does most of his work in stencils so that he can make it prefect and easy. Also he doesn't get caught by the police.

Advertising

There are many ways we can advertise our event.

We could publish an advert in local newspapers-such as Evening Courier, Metro, Huddersfield Weekly News, Huddersfield Daily Examiner, Gazette&Herald and Wakefield Express. The University magazines, leave flyers within the art studios of the local Universities, get adverts out on local radio stations- such as Real Radio, Pulse, Galaxy and Phoenix FM, and University radio stations, and posters in the art studios advertising the launch event.
Below an example of a poster/leaflet.

Online Campaign Proposal

The following are possibilities to advertising our campaign online;

Facebook Group;
As our target audience is Arty Students at local Universities, Facebook is a really good way of getting people to know about our campaign and the events at the Yorkshire Sculpture Park. This sets up another friendship scheme with all the students. We could also advertise on the local University's Facebook pages, by just posting a link to the group we set up. The following screen shots show examples of how to set up a group and a mock up of an actual group we could set up.

You first need to set up a group, this is the template used to create a group;

There are then options for the actual group as to what is to be shown on the group, what the people that join can see and post and edit. This is also to edit things like photos, videos, posts and discussions on the group.

This is an example of the page of the group and the information about the friendship scheme, online shop, shop at the Yorkshire Sculpture Park, our products, and the event. It can also have links to the Etsy shop and the Yorkshire Sculpture Park official website.

You can also create an event on the group which could showcase the actual launch event at the Sculpture park, this also advertises to the target audience as you can specify who you send invitations to. It is also free to create a group on Facebook!

Google Ads;
Google ads is a good way to advertise our scheme as many people use google as well as our target audience.
The below quote is from the Google ad website;
"You create your ads

You create ads and choose keywords, which are words or phrases related to your business. Get keyword ideas

Your ads appear on Google

When people search on Google using one of your keywords, your ad may appear next to the search results. Now you're advertising to an audience that's already interested in you.

You attract customers
People can simply click your ad to make a purchase or learn more about you. You don't even need a webpage to get started – Google will help you create one for free. It's that easy!"

Launch Event Concept/Research

Our launch event is going to promote the friendship scheme, the online shop and the Touch'it products.

As part of our launch event we decided that as a friend of the yorkshire sculpture park, they have opportunity to do their own art on the wall, from the experience they've had from the Yorkshire Sculpture park.

As a team we have looked at different artists that have done something similar to what we want our target audience to get from the experience. The event idea that we came up with was from Banksy and how he creates art on a wall. We decided to use Banksy as he has influenced us in our product designs, and it will influence our target audience for their designs on the wall. We decided that most of his work is done in stencils and that he has some followed some of the younger age group that is of our target audience.

Here are some images that we have found that has influenced us to do the art on the wall done by Banksy.

The event will happen in the underground exhibition. We decided to have the event in the underground exhibition because it's a big space and it will give the chance for our target audience to touch and have an actual feel of the Yorkshire Sculpture park instead of being watched and having signs saying 'don't climb' and 'don't touch'. This is to give the chance to have a different opinion and perspective about the Yorkshire Sculpture park.

As part of the event, the friends of the Yorkshire Sculpture park will get the chance to meet a local artist that will be there to help out, give advice and have to the chance to exhibit what they have created. We have looked at the different artist that have exhibit there work in the Yorkshire Sculpture park and have decided to ask Rob Ryan to be part of the launch event because most of project has been influenced on stencil designs and Rob is another great example of this.

By the end of the event they would be able to come back and look around the Yorkshire Sculpture park again and also have a look at the underground exhibition of their own work. Also having the experience to work with Rob Ryan.

The benifits of the launch event is that being part of a friendship scheme of the Yorkshire Sculpture park, that they are up to date with the latest artists and exibitions and art around the world. Also they get the first chance of seeing the new designs for the Touch'it products and also have the first chance get to do the art on the wall again with different local artists.

To promote the Friendship scheme, will take the photos of the launched event and then update the yorkshire sculpture park friend scheme web page.

Sketchbook Designs

Using the 'munny' toy as a base we have decided the name of our toy would be called 'Touch'it' as a sort of joke due to the fact that you can not touch the sculptures in the park.

Online Outlet Proposal

We have decided we would like to use Etsy.com as our online outlet for our products made for the sculpture park because as we are making the items for arty students, this is a great place that they will already shop. Etsy.com specializes in only selling handmade, vintage or self designed products.
The following is a step by step example on how to create an online shop using Etsy and how you must register first to create a shop;

Your Username must be appropriate as it will be used as your Etsy shop name.
